That was me not too long ago, but thankfully that all changed when Kim wanted to take me skiing for my birthday this year. We went on April 6th and it was unforgettable for a few reasons.
One, I don't have much experience teaching anyone how to ski. I have tried to help my siblings and some friends but never have I really had to try to teach someone from square one and it makes a difference when the first person you really have to teach is your wife. Skiing is a dangerous sport with steep inclines, trees and bumps everywhere, and a person wearing gear specifically designed to optimize performance and allow for fast speeds on snow. I will never be able to forget how I felt when I saw Kim flying down one of the blue squares at Solitude yelling at me that she couldn't stop as she barreled toward moguls and trees. It was absolutely terrifying but now that we have both made it home safely I hope to one day be able to look back and laugh.
Second, what should have been a great bluebird day ended up being a rainy day as you can see in the pictures. Wet snow increases friction so it made skiing a challenge but Kim was a champ and learned quickly in spite of the conditions.
Third, doing my favorite thing with my favorite person is memorable enough as it is.
